ABC Pathways is a behavioral and skill development center that provides a variety of services for children in need of assistance. Here at ABC Pathways, we are dedicated to the focus of the children’s behavioral goals and skills development. Our commitment to you is that your family will be treated with respect, equality, and sensitivity. There is principle and virtue that come with our commitment. Our goal is to bring integrity to a field that was created to promote positive behavior change, increase independence, and help children with autism live their best possible lives.

Meet the Founder

Our Founder: Verma Smith, M.Ed BCBA

Verma Smith is a Board Certified Behavior Analyst with more than 25 years servicing children in an educational, behavioral, and social capacity.  She earned her Bachelor’s Degree In Sociology from Roosevelt University in 1995 before earning a Masters Degree in Early Childhood Education from Governors State University in 2000.  Afterwards, she went on to further her studies in Applied Behavior Analysis at Florida Institute of Technology where she received direct training from ABA Legendary Dr. Jose Martinez-Diaz, the founder of Florida Tech School of Behavior Analysis and Senior Consultant for the Behavior Analyst Certification Board.  Verma Smith became a Teacher in 1998 and has taught children of various developmental and academic levels in grades PreK-7th.  While teaching, she has implemented behavior modification strategies to improve student behavior and promote more positive and socially important behavioral patterns.  She rose to become a Board Certified Behavior Analyst and the owner and operator of ABC Pathways, LLC.

In her role as the owner and BCBA, she oversees the overall operation of ABC Pathways.  She monitors the planning, designing, and implementation of behavior intervention plans to improve or change problematic behaviors.  She provides support to clients and their families by coordinating and providing services in Applied Behavior Analysis, determining the cause of behavior and assessments, teaching new socially important behavior, reducing inappropriate behavior, and teaching everyday skills clients need to function in their own environment and interact with people.

Our Mission

Our mission is to improve the overall quality of life of individuals and families impacted by autism and other behavior disorders by providing evidence-based and family-centered therapies and family support based on the principles and practices of applied behavior analysis (ABA).
